Welcome

Watch RESource over the next few days for our first teacher contribution: 'Music that points to Justice' by Patrick Jurd of De La Salle Malvern. Patrick's interest in how popular culture relates to RE has led to Masters studies in this area and he will share his class experience and insights with us. Thank-you Patrick. Anyone else like to share their ideas?

Have you seen:

The 15th August marks the feast of the Assumption. Two pages may help you reflect with students. They are both part of The Mary Page, just about the best page on the Web devoted to Mary. One is more suitable for senior classes the other a series of activity sheets on Mary for primary classes. Also of interest is a slide show of images of the Assumption which provides many starting points for a discussion of the significance of Mary in the life of the Church and in the lives of each of us.

STOP THE TRAFFIK is a global movement working to combat the fastest growing global crime, people trafficking. Around the world men, women and children are being treated as commodities—something to be bought, sold, and enslaved. Who cares?

The Caritas World Youth Day site contains many features to help you reflect on your WYD experience in an ongoing way.

Have you seen:

Traditional Aboriginal owners on July 30 have won their legal action in the High Court, securing control of waters between the high and low tide mark at Blue Mud Bay. Will they also be able to retain land with mining potential?

The immigration minister, Chris Evans announced changes to Australia's asylum policy last week. They remove the worst aspects of a punishing system but many of the deterrent measures of the old policy remain. Is this fair to desperate people fleeing horrendous situations?
